April 24: Phi Alpha Theta induction at 6 p.m. in the Boland Room followed by the 9th Annual Symposium of Omicron Xi.
Members of Omicron Xi in the Siena College History Department participated in the 2014 Biennial Convention of the History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, held at the Tamaya Hotel and Resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico from January 3-5. Lindsay Davenport '14 presented “The Mutiny of the 79th New York Infantry Regiment,” and Francis Butler '15 presented “Experimenting Freedom: The Contraband Camp at Roanoke Island.” Faculty Advisor Dr. Wendy Pojmann acted as chair and discussant on two panel sessions and contributed to a faculty panel on teaching history to undergraduates. The three participants also enjoyed the warm New Mexico sunshine and visited Old Town Albuquerque, home to a Civil War monument based on a skirmish there in 1862 and the San Felipe de Neri church, originally founded in 1706 by the Franciscans.
Danielle Morgan ‘13’s capstone paper, "Seeds of Industrialization for Chattanooga, Tennessee 1863-1877," will be published in the 2014 edition of the Journal of East Tennessee History
