An Introduction to Siena College’s Sexual Violence Prevention Campaign and Response Policies

Incoming Students (new, transfer, visiting): Saints Know SPARC (Sexual & Interpersonal Violence and Response Course) will be completed through Skillport; you must be registered for classes to have access to Skillport.  When the training is available, an email from no-reply@skillsoft.com will be sent to your @siena.edu account.  Once notified, please follow the instructions below.  The training should be completed prior to your arrival on campus; a due date for completion will be included in your notification email.

Sexual violence is an issue of significant concern on American college campuses.   Violence of any kind – including sexual violence - is antithetical to Siena’s values and to our vision of what it means to live and learn in a safe, respectful, and inclusive community.

Here at Siena we expect all members of our College community to play their part in preventing sexual violence, and as a new Siena Saint, that expectation applies to you.  In order for you to fulfill this expectation, we have created a training module, Saints Know SPARC, for you to complete before your arrival on campus.

Saints Know SPARC will provide you with a basic understanding of terms such as sexual violence and affirmative consent, inform you of support and advocacy resources available for those who have experienced sexual violence, explain your rights as a Siena student with respect to sexual misconduct complaints, and discuss what you can do as a student to help prevent sexual violence from occurring.

Saints Know SPARC will be conducted through Skillport;

When the training opens you may need to re-size the window for the training to display correctly.  If the training does not open, you may need to allow pop-ups in your browser.  If you do not know how to do this, please contact the help desk at 518-782-6000 or helpdesk@siena.edu.

To move from one slide to the next, you will use the "Prev" (previous) and "Next" buttons located in the lower-right side of the training.  The "Next" button will not be visible until all content on that slide has played. You may exit the training at any time and resume where you stopped on your return.  You will not receive credit for completing the training until you click the green "End Course" button on the last slide of the course.

Throughout the course, you will notice the word "Resources" at the top, right-hand side of the slides.  Clicking on this will provide you with useful links to various Siena College web pages, as well as links to off-campus resources providing assistance to victims of sexual assault should you wish to seek further information.

The training should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.  If you would like to print out your certificate:

  • Click the "Learning Plan" (puzzle piece icon) in the green bar at the top of your screen.
