Federal Grant Program

Federal Pell Grant

  • Awarded to students who have exceptional financial need.
  • To qualify students must submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Award amounts are based on a student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as calculated by the FAFSA, and the student's Cost of Attendance (COA).
  • The award amount for 2017-2018 is up to $5,920.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

  • The SEOG program is administered by Siena College, with award amounts contingent on the federal allocation to the College.
  • Eligibility for the grant is based on exceptional financial need.
  • At Siena, student's must be eligible for a Federal Pell grant to qualify for an FSEOG. 
  • Students must submit the FAFSA (Free Appllication for Federal Student Aid) to apply for this grant.
  • The maximum annual award amounts is $4,000.  

Federal TEACH Grant

  • Awarded to students who are actively pursuing coursework within a major that will enable them to teach in a federal or state-recognized high need field, at a low income school, as a highly qualified teacher, full-time for at least four year.
  • The four years of teaching must be completed within eight years after the student completes or otherwise ceases to be enrolled in the program for which the student received a TEACH Grant.
  • For purposes of the TEACH Grant, nationally recognized high-need fields are: Mathematics, Science, & Foreign Language.
  • Students must either earn a GPA of 3.25 or better based on their class status (as described below) or have scored in the 75th percentile or better on at least one battery of a nationally-normed admission test (i.e. SAT)
  • Students are required to sign an Agreement to Serve (ATS) each year, which explains this service obligation, a Siena TEACH Grant application, and TEACH Grant counseling each year an award is made.
  • If the requirements of the ATS are not met, the grant will be converted into a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
