Dr. Russell J. Zwanka teaches Marketing Research, Food Retailing, and Marketing Principles at Siena College in Loudonville, New York.  Zwanka also formed and operated the Food Marketing Track at the School of Business at State University of New York at New Paltz, where he built the curriculum for  Category Management and Food Retail Management, while also teaching Marketing Principles, Sales Management, and Marketing Strategy.  In addition, Dr. Zwanka teaches Advanced Concepts in Food Marketing at the University at Albany.

Dr. Zwanka is currently CEO at Triple Eight Marketing, a retail and consumer goods consulting company. Before entering the academic world, Dr. Z led the merchandising, marketing, advertising, procurement, and all customer engagement areas for multiple organizations in the United States and Canada.  

Dr. Z holds a Doctorate in International Business from the International School of Management in Paris, France. He also holds a Masters of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University, and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of South Carolina.  Dr. Zwanka's nine books Category Management Principles (textbook), Successfully Succinct Stage Speaking, Operating in the New Cuba, Food Retail Management Strategic Cases, A Marketing Manual for the Millennium, Requisite Reading for the Renaissance Retailer, Customer Connectivity in Global Brands and Retailers, Customers First. Profits Second., and Would You Shop Here if You Didn’t Work Here? are available in paperback or e-book in over twenty-five countries.

Zwanka has spoken at various events, including the Carnegie Mellon Social Media Conference, the University of Manitoba Marketing Conference, the Argyle Executive Forum, and the Consumer Goods Forum.  Additionally, he has served on the IGA Retailer Advisory Board, the HVEDC Food and Beverage Alliance, the Consumer Goods Forum Marketing Committee, the HVCC Marketing Advisory Committee, the Topco Operations Board, and the Nielsen Retailer Advisory Committee.
