Roja was raised in Iran, educated in Italy, and now lives, studies, and works in New York State. She received her PhD in History of Architecture (2017), and her MA in civil engineering and Architecture (2012), both from University of Cagliari, Italy.
Roja is a versatile scholar and has worked in both academia and community. The core of her research, professional experience, and cultural activities, from translation to teaching to lectures center on generating new ways to approach what may broadly be considered "otherness". She has dealt with the question of communication and intercultural dialogue her entire adult life and has endless curiosity towards different cultures’ way of thinking, way of perceiving the world, conceiving of reality, and the language in which they express their thoughts. Roja considers herself a lifelong student, cultural activist and fierce advocate for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Thus, she finds ACE as the most suitable home.
