Dr. Nate Pruitt is the director of the Counseling Center and a licensed psychologist in New York.  He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a master's and doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Marquette University.  Dr. Pruitt also worked as a clinician at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and at Marquette University before coming to Siena College.

Dr. Pruitt has taught several undergraduate and graduate courses, and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Albany Medical Center.  He has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles on topics including psychotherapy, cultural issues, and advising relationships.  Dr. Pruitt directs a practicum program for doctoral students from the University at Albany to work as clinicians at the Counseling Center for an academic year as part of their training.

Dr. Pruitt tends to use cognitive behavioral therapy and humanistic counseling approaches to treat depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and relationship problems.  He also enjoys working with cultural concerns, grief, and college adjustment issues.  He greatly enjoys his work with college students.
