Mr. Mengfei Xu is currently a doctoral student in counseling psychology at the University at Albany, State University of New York. He is originally from Shanghai, China. Mr. Xu completed his undergraduate degree at Fudan University, and earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Beijing Normal University.
Mr. Xu has worked with college students in both US and China. He provides services in English and Mandarin. Mr. Xu has also taught undergraduate courses in career development. His research interests include psychotherapy process and clinical supervision.
Mr. Xu’s clinical orientation is an integration of psychodynamic, interpersonal, and humanistic approaches within a multicultural framework. He aims to create a safe, non-judgmental space for students to explore and take steps to make intellectual, emotional, as well as behavioral changes. Areas of interest include depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, adjustment/acculturation, LGBTQ+ population, trauma, and career development.
