My Siena Experience

My Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy in some ways mirrors the medical school model of "See one, Do one, Teach one", I will explain theory and work out a problem in class, then hand out something similar for students to work out in consultation with other students in the class. I find that having students work on problems together allows them to build on each other's knowledge and strengths. By listening to their discussions when working out a problem, I find out what is still unclear to the students and can address it in more detail or come at it from a different direction.

What I Love About Siena

I enjoy the small classes where you get to know the students personally

My Favorite Courses to Teach

I most enjoy teaching CSIS115, a course I designed in conjunction with Scott Vandenburg to introduce non-computer science students to relational databases
