The mission of the Data Science program at Siena College is to provide the highest quality data science education available at any Liberal Arts college. The program introduces the language, ideas, and active process of data science through its courses and programs, and creates an interdisciplinary culture that promotes "the liberal use of data".

Learning goals

A student who has completed the Data Science program at Siena will:

1. Apply computing power in a mathematically/statistically appropriate way to extract actionable knowledge from data, and demonstrate proficiency in applying data science skills.

2. Demonstrate basic proficiency in managing and working with real data sets.

3. Succeed at working on an interdisciplinary team, including effectively communicating data outcomes across disciplines.

4. Understand the various stages of the data cycle.

5. Demonstrate sensitivity to data science as a liberal art, exploring the use of data science techniques in a diversity of settings.
