Admission Procedures for SW Program

Admission Procedures

Freshmen and Sophomores may declare social work as a major at any point. However, formal admission to the Social Work Program is required to be a Junior social work major. Siena students apply in the spring of their sophomore year; transfer students apply no later than the summer before their junior year. A minimum overall 2.5 G.P.A. is required.

The application process includes:

  • an application form
  • a personal essay
  • two letters of reference
  • a writing sample
  • an interview with two Social Work faculty to ensure the program is a good fit with the student’s abilities and interests.
