ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- The name "MoveThatBlock.com" might not ring a bell for everyone just yet. But, for Siena College graduates and former roommates Todd Drowlette and Pat Gray, their website keeps growing every day.
"I always say the difference between successful people and the ones who aren't, is successful people are the ones that do it, while the ones who aren't are talking about what they should do," said Drowlette, the company's chairman.
They call their website "the free social marketplace" and it features things like real estate listings, job postings, and personals. The founders aren't surprised New York is ranked number 1 for entrepreneurial activity.
"AMD gets all the play up here and tech valley, but there's tons and tons of entrepreneurs and innovators who sell for 50 million, 100 million dollars and you don't even hear about it," said Drowlette.
The study looked at categories like percentage growth in business establishments, business formation rates and the number of patents per thousand residents.
Move That Block is the first company to emerge from Siena College's business incubator and though the idea has been in the works for two years, it just launched last September. Already, both Drowlette and Gray say the sky's the limit.
"We just sold a minority stake in our company, so our company in 9 months is valued at 10 million dollars," said Drowlette. "We're going to be the next multi-billion dollar company."
"This isn't the last you're going to hear from us," said Gray. "This is going to be huge and the next thing we're going to do is going to be huge."
The website is actually going to be the sponsor of an IndyCar Race in New Hampshire on August 14th. The goal there is to set a World Record for the Largest Group Date—and to spread the name of an innovating Capital Region business to a larger audience.
