Assistant Director of the Damietta Cross Cultural Center

Siena College is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of the Damietta Cross-Cultural Center. The Damietta Cross-Cultural Center’s mission is to foster campus-wide, cross-cultural competency in the service of a just world. The Assistant Director will support the Director in achieving the Damietta Cross-Cultural Center mission. The Assistant Director will assist the Director in developing and implementing programs as well as conducting trainings for students that will affect campus culture. The Assistant Director position supports Siena College’s mission by further promoting the Franciscan Tradition of fostering a community where members work together in friendship and respect to building a world that is more just, peaceful, and humane. The Assistant Director will manage the daily workflow of the Damietta Advocates and program assistants. The Assistant Director will also serve as a resource for affinity clubs and campus partners. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support the Director in department and program assessments, data analysis and reporting. As an important member of a team (with the Director of Damietta Center, other administrators and faculty) the Assistant Director will develop and execute the Cross-Cultural Solidarity Experience program. The Cross-Cultural Solidarity Experience program is a cross-cultural immersion experience in a community that will foster and enhance a student’s sense of solidarity with “the other”. The Assistant Director will coordinate and maintain relationships with cross-cultural solidarity experience community partners.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Manage daily student office work;

2. Train and supervise student staff and interns;

3. Plan and coordinate cross-cultural leadership programs;

4. Work in partnership with student affinity groups;

5. Plan, organize and conduct trainings and workshops for Cross-Cultural Solidarity Experience;

6. Coordinate with community partners for service and Cross-Cultural Solidarity Experience sites as well as be a liaison with faculty and community partners;

7. Assist in program and department assessment, data analysis and reporting;

8. Performs other duties as assigned by Director.


Requirements: The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in student affairs, education, cross-cultural studies or a related field; 1 to 3 years of experience in administrations of student affairs, immersion and cross-cultural programs; an understanding of, and support for, the values and perspectives of a Franciscan and Catholic liberal arts college; a demonstrated ability to work with broad segments of a college community-faculty, staff, students; the ability to be an effective team member who can foster strong relationships across organizational boundaries. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and expertise with diversity, social justice education, and inclusion experiences within a religiously affiliated institution; experience with Banner, Qualtrics and SPSS/PASW; analyzing data using various statistical methods; using general linear modeling; supervising students; and developing and assessing learning outcomes.
