Mandarin Chinese is one of the most widely used languages in the world. It has become an important language of commerce, politics and culture.  the acquisition of Chinese language skills will not only help you gain new perspectives, it will also provide you with more career opportunities in the global economy.

Mandarin Chinese is not as difficult as you think. Pinyin, the official system to transcribe Chinese characters into Latin script will make your learning experience much easier and more enjoyable. The grammatical rules are much simpler than those in English.  If you like drawing pictures, you will like writing in Chinese.

Two sections of Mandarin will be offered in each semester. Chinese 101 and 102 are general introductory courses in Mandarin Chinese designed for beginning and intermediate level students. It will focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing standard mandarin Chinese, and will introduce students to various aspects of the Chinese cultural traditions.

Chinese 201 and 202 are second-year course in standard mandarin Chinese, a continuation of Chinese 101 and 102. It aims to refine and further develop studnts’ abilities in Chinese speaking, listening, reading and writing.
