SAINTS Selection

WELCOME TO SAINTS SELECTION 2013!

Dear S.A.I.N.T.S. Applicant:

I am delighted that you are considering a position on the S.A.I.N.T.S. team. Your willingness to apply for this position indicates your desire to grow as a leader. Whether you are a returning applicant or someone new to the New Student Orientation experience, it is my hope that you indeed develop your leadership skills through the selection process and new student orientation program. The S.A.I.N.T.S. position is, without a doubt, one of the most desired and sought after student positions on our campus. It carries with it a high degree of prestige, and an even greater degree of responsibility. The expectations are very high, but incredibly rewarding. New Student Orientation takes place just prior to the start of classes, and a substantial training is required to adequately prepare the staff. Compensation for the S.A.I.N.T.S. will include housing and meals as well as a monetary stipend.

New Student Orientation is a program designed to help our newest students become familiar with our campus while gearing up for both academic and social success. This structured five-day program will take place just before classes begin in the Fall and includes discussions with student leaders, student success workshops, and multiple opportunities to meet other new students, both on-campus and during off-campus excursions. New students often report that the orientation experience assured them Siena College was the right choice and really prepared them for the fall. The S.A.I.N.T.S. serve a crucial role in facilitating the program and easing the transition of our new students when they arrive for the fall semester.

S.A.I.N.T.S. welcome new students to the Siena campus before the Fall semester begins with professionalism, warmth, and energy. S.A.I.N.T.S. try to minimize anxiety, promote positive attitudes, and stimulate the excitement of learning in all new students and their families, while exhibiting the true Siena spirit.

Before you pursue your application further, I strongly suggest that you carefully review this information so that you can proceed with a full understanding of the requirements of the process and program.  In addition to the online application, you are required to submit a formal cover letter, resume and answers to the Applicant Essay Questions.  Samples of a cover letter, resume as well as the Applicant Essay Questions are available on the FAQ page of this selection webpage.  All items are due to the Office of Campus Programs & Student Activies no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, February 1st, 2013.  After having submitted all of these materials you will be invited to complete an interview with members of the selection committee.  In the event that you are applying from abroad, you will be asked to complete an addition set of essay questions in lieu of an interview.

You have my personal best wishes for success! Please do not hesitate to contact me should you need clarification or have a question.

Sincerely,

Jen Fraley
Associate Director, Campus Programs & Student Activities
