Traveling to Siena College
NEH Summer Scholars should plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon. The nearest airport is Albany International Airport (ALB) (ten minutes from Siena College). Amtrak provides service to Albany-Rensselaer Train Station (approximately twenty minutes from the College). Siena College will provide transportation to and from the train station or airport to campus. If you are driving to campus, you can find directions to Siena College on the College's website by clicking on this link.
If you arriving on Saturday, I recommend lodging at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Latham, 400 Old Loudon Rd., Latham NY 12110, 518-783-6161. The hotel offers free shuttle service from the Albany International Airport, and is less than a ten minute drive from the College.
We will expect you to register between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Sunday. At registration you will receive a key and a College swipe-card that will give you access to buildings. You will be asked to complete a contract (“terms and conditions of occupancy”), and pay for housing and meals. Please be aware that Siena College accepts cash or checks for payment (bank checks or personal checks). We do not accept credit cards for housing. If an emergency requires you to leave the workshop early, Siena College will pro-rate your housing expenses.
At 5:30pm our intrepid work study students Rachel Bournique and Francis Butler will lead us on a tour of Siena College and its facilities. At 6:30pm we will gather for a reception and dinner. I understand that some of you will need to arrive on campus after 5:00pm and that is fine, but we would like to see everyone at dinner, which will be the first opportunity for the whole Heaven on Earth team to meet.
