Tax Transcript

 

If your FAFSA is selected for verification and you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval process or you changed the IRS data on your FAFSA, you will be required to request a Federal Tax Return Transcript from the IRS.

Please make sure you request a Federal Tax Return Transcript, NOT a Tax Account Transcript or Record of Account. The Federal Tax Return Transcript is the only document that can be used to confirm your federal tax information for the verification process.

 

You can order your Federal Tax Return Transcript by phone, online or by mail.

 

To order by phone:

 

·                Call the IRS at 1-800-908-9946.

·                Follow the instructions provided during your call to request your 2012 transcript

 

To order online:

 

·                Go to http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

·                Click Order a Transcript under Step 3

·                Enter your SSN, Date of Birth, Street Address, and Zip Code

·                Click Continue

·                Select 2012 for the transcript tax year

·                Click Continue

 

A tax return transcript can be ordered by mail:

 

·         Complete Form 4506-T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return)

·         Form 4506-T is available online at   http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf.

·         Mail to the address indicated on the form
