"Francis Among Us" Photo Contest Winners

First place winner - Photograph by Christie Ziegler, Class of 2012. 

Christie submitted the following text about the photograph: "In the picture is Siena College senior Daniel Sedhom eating lunch with elementary school children in Marigat, Kenya where we lived and volunteered most of last summer. We volunteered at this school and ate lunch with these wonderful children on a regular basis. I miss them all so much and cannot wait to return after graduating."

Second place winner - Photograph by Erin Leary, Class of 2012.

Erin submitted the following text about the photograph: "I was on a service trip to Leon, Nicaragua this summer with a group from my church.  We worked with a small, very poor town outside of the city of Leon called Sutiava. We built a professional sized baseball field out of a weed-covered field, we played games, colored, and made bracelets and yarn dolls with the children of the town, and took them on a field trip to see the boiling mud pits nearby".

Third place winner - Eben Yonnetti, Class of 2012 (Photograph was taken by Yung Kwan).

Eben submitted the following text about the photograph: "It is a picture of me taken on my final day of class after volunteering for 3 months teaching English this summer at a small Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal. The monks in the picture with me are some of my students as well as the Principle and the Debate teacher at the monastic school. Around my neck are the white prayer scarves (Katak) that each of my +70 students gave me to wish me a safe trip home and bright future."
