Curriculum Vitae
Karen Ng joined the Department of Philosophy at Siena College in Fall 2012. She completed her PhD at The New School for Social Research (2012) and her MA at the University of Essex (2006). She specializes in Kant and German Idealism with a particular emphasis on Hegel, and is interested in conceptions of freedom, self-consciousness, and nature in the development of modern philosophy, both early and late. Her current research and publications focus on the concept of life in Hegel's Science of Logic and she is completing a book manuscript titled, "The Life of the Concept: Freedom and Form in Hegel's Logic." Beyond Kant and post-Kantian philosophy, she also has a broad interest in continental philosophy (especially critical theory), social and political philosophy (especially theories of recognition), and feminist philosophy.
