Removing Old Antivirus

 Important:  you must remove your old antivirus before installing Microsoft Security Essentials.

Windows XP

1. Click on "Start."
2. Click on "Control Panel."
3. Click on "Add/Remove Programs."
4. If necessary, click on "Add/Remove Programs."  Some configurations skip this step. 
5. A list of programs will display (it may take a minute).
6. Look for your current antivirus (e.g., Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc.).  Click on the name.
7. Click on "Remove."

The antivirus will be removed and you can then install new software.

Windows Vista or Windows 7

1. Click on "Start."
2. Click on "Control Panel."
3. Click on "Uninstall a program" under "Programs"
4. Look for your current antivirus (e.g., Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc.).  Click on the name.
5. Click on "Uninstall."
6. If there are any warnings, ignore them.

The antivirus will be removed from your computer.
