Assistant Professor of MathematicsThe Department of Mathematics of Siena College invites applications for two tenure-track positions in any area of mathematics beginning Fall, 2011. Appointments are normally at the assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment is possible for candidates with a strong record of research and outstanding teaching. A successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics and must have a demonstrated ability to maintain both an active research program and the highest standards of excellence in teaching. Interest in pursuing external research funding is a plus. A completed application should contain a cover letter, C.V., a statement describing teaching philosophy and experience, and a research statement. In addition, applicants should arrange for the submission of three confidential letters of reference, at least one of which should address teaching. All application materials, including letters of reference, should be submitted through www.mathjobs.org, the AMS service. We will begin reviewing completed applications on December 1, 2010. The Department is planning to have representatives at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January, 2011, in New Orleans. The Mathematics Department, housed in the School of Science, offers rich experiences for mathematics majors who wish to pursue a career in research mathematics, actuarial science or secondary education.
