Assistant Professor of Electronic Journalism

The Creative Arts Department of Siena College seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor in Electronic Journalism beginning in Fall 2011. The candidate will be grounded in the best traditions of broadcast journalism and invested in the development of new curriculum in multi-platform journalism. Teaching load is three classes per semester with the expectation of scholarly activity. Courses include (but not limited to) Introduction to Journalism, Reporting for Radio and Television, Internship Supervision, and a capstone course integrating a newscast with multiplatform journalism. The candidate will direct the interdisciplinary minor and will work collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines. S/he will supervise the Television Studio Manager (f/t staff) and work-study students. PhD strongly preferred; Masters degree, college teaching experience, and minimum five years professional experience in video based or multimedia journalism required. Top candidates will be able to teach in a multiplatform digital environment and understand new media platforms .
