Siena College Pandemic Influenza Response Planning and Information

5/8/09 H1N1 Swine Flu Update

Per the New York State Department of Health,  Siena College is monitoring H1N1 as it does for regular seasonal influenza.

5/07/09  H1N1 Swine Flu Update
The Emergency Response Team meeting scheduled for today was cancelled due to no change in WHO level of the H1N1 level or conditions locally.  The College is operating under normal conditions.  The Team will be called together again should the WHO raise the level of the H1N1 virus or conditions locally change.

5/04/09 H1N1 Swine Flu Update
Siena College’s Emergency Response Team last met on Monday May 4, 2009.  Since there were no new developments nor were there any further New York State Department of Health recommendations, the Vice President for Student Affairs, along with the Director of Health Services will continue to monitor this situation.  The Vice President asked members of the team to remain ready to assemble should the situation change at any time.  A meeting has been tentatively scheduled for Thursday May 7, 2009.  The meeting will be postponed if there is no change in the level or status of the H1N1 virus.

While the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the level of pandemic awareness from a 4 to a 5, Siena College is operating under normal conditions.

Siena College continues to monitor the situation and is following its Pandemic Influenza Response Plan and taking direction from the appropriate community agencies, including the New York State Department of Health and federal and local emergency agencies.  We are cooperating with county public health offices to comply with guidance and recommendations.  In the event of a change in the College operations, details will be e-mailed to students and faculty, as well as posted on the College’s Website.

We are asking everyone in the College community (students, faculty, administrators and staff) to monitor this emergency information Web page for updates.
