Blackboard

Blackboard moved to hosted server Dec 2011

Login to BlackboardSiena Faculty and Students,

Blackboard is arguably the most important academic technology service provided by Information Technology Services. Unfortunately it has been running on quite old hardware and its configuration puts us at risk of data loss in the event of a disaster (fire, hurricane, earthquake, etc.).

To make the Blackboard service more robust we are outsourcing the operation of the Blackboard software to Blackboard the corporation. There will be no apparent difference to you as a user of the service, but it will be running on computer hardware in Virginia instead of in Hines Hall.

Thank you for your patience while we work to make systems at Siena reliable and robust.

Regards,

Mark Berman, Chief Information Officer

Siena College uses Blackboard version 9.0. This version of Blackboard offers new and improved social learning tools such as blogs and journals, and other Web 2.0 technologies that allow for greater interactivity and collaboration in a web-based environment. It offers the ability to customize course pages by "dragging and dropping". Navigation is easier with the new drop down menus. And that's just the beginning! Download a description of some of the key teaching and learning enhancements that are available in Blackboard 9.
