Higher Education Opportunity Program

The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is co-sponsored by the New York State Education Department and private college's like Siena.

Siena's HEOP Program provides students, who may not be able to attend college due to educational and financial circumstances, access to a valuable college education.  Eligibility is based on both academic and economic criteria.  Once admitted to HEOP, students receive a variety of academic support services to enhance their success while at Siena.

These services include a pre-freshman summer program, quality counseling and tutoring services and a peer mentoring program.  At Siena, HEOP students receive a well-rounded liberal arts education combined with professional development.  Graduates leave campus prepared for a successful career in any field, and as a result of our Franciscan and Catholic tradition, a desire to use their talents to make their communities better places.

 In addition, HEOP students receive a very generous financial aid package, which comes from a combination of Federal, State and Siena College sources. 

To be considered for the Arthur O. Eve HEOP program at Siena College, you must meet all of the following conditions:

• You must be a resident of New York State.
• You must be a high school graduate or possess an approved equivalency dipolma (GED).
• You must be academically disadvantaged, with the potential and motivation for successful completion of a college degree.
• You must be willing to utilize the services of the program.

You must be economically disadvantaged with family income meeting the financial guidelines set forth by the New York State Education Department for the calendar year of your first entry into college.

• For example, for a family of 4, the family income of a student entering college after July 1, 2012, must be equal to or less than $ 42,643.  The income guideline increases as the number in the family increases.  Students are welcome to call the HEOP Office to discuss the specific guidelines of the program in relation to their family circumstances. 

Transfer students may also be eligible if documentation is provided to verify previous enrollment in a comparable New York State Opportunity Program (i..e. HEOP, EOP, SEEK, College Discovery Programs). 

All decisions on admission into Siena's Arthur O. Eve HEOP program are made by the HEOP Department, the Admission's Committee and the Financial Aid Committee, in accordance with state guidelines.
