Parents interested in borrowing a Direct Parent PLUS loan for the 2012-2013 academic year are required to complete the four steps below:
Application Steps:
In order for your Direct Parent PLUS loan to be processed you must complete all four steps outlined below.
1. Download and complete the Direct Parent PLUS Loan Information Form. This form provides the Office of Financial Aid with important information to process your loan. Once you have completed yourDirect PLUS Loan Information Form, you will finish the application process by completing the steps outlined below. Your loan will not be complete until you have completed all four steps. Your Direct Parent PLUS Loan Information Form can be mailed, faxed or emailed to the Office of Financial Aid. 2. Students must complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA for their parents to be eligible for a Direct Parent PLUS loan.
3. The parent borrower must complete a credit check online at www.studentloans.gov to determine eligibility for the PLUS loan.
If the parent borrower is approved, proceed to step 4. If the parent borrower credit is denied, there are 3 options. For detailed instructions and more information about these options visit our Direct PLUS Denial Information page. 4. Once approved, the parent borrower must complete a Direct PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) for their loan. This can be completed at www.studentloans.gov.
