Apply For Undergraduate Direct Stafford Loan

Federal Direct Stafford Loan: 

 
Your eligibility for the Federal Direct Stafford loan program is displayed on Web for Students. All students, new and returning are required to receive their Federal Direct Stafford loan through the Direct Loan program. The required steps are outlined below:
  
  1. File a 2013-2014 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov.

  2. *New for 2013-2014* - Accept your Federal Direct Stafford Loan(s) via Web for Students (Instructions regarding this process will be delivered in early June). 

Step 3 is only required for students that did NOT previously borrow a Direct Stafford loan at Siena College

  1. To complete your MPN and Entrance Counseling, visit www.studentloans.gov.  
    • Select Sign In (You will need your SSN and FAFSA PIN to log in).
    • Select Complete Counseling
    • Select Entrance Counseling and follow the instructions for undergraduate students.
    • Once you have completed Entrance Counseling, See link at bottom of page under "Next Steps" to Complete Master Promissory Note.
    • Select the Subsidized/Unsubsidized link and follow the provided instructions.
 
Once steps 1-3 have been completed, your loan funds (loan amount minus 1.051% loan fee) will be electronically disbursed to your Siena College student account in two installments, at the beginning of each semester. 
 
Important - The Federal Direct Stafford Loan is in the student's name. Therefore the MPN and Entrance Counseling must be completed by the student. When logging into the studentloans.gov website, the student will need their SSN, Date of Birth and FAFSA Pin. 
 
Your Federal Direct Stafford loan will not be processed by the Financial Aid Office until you have completed ALL requirements outlined above.
