FAQs for Prospective Transfer Admissions

What materials do I need to submit in order to transfer?

A Common Application transfer application along with a $50 application fee and Siena Supplement.  You will also need official transcripts from all colleges attended, a letter of recommendation from a college official at current or most recent institution and  an official High School transcript or copy of GED (required only if graduated in past ten years).

How many credits can I transfer?
A student may transfer up to 90 credits from a four year institution and 66 credits from a two year school. Regardless of how many credits you transfer, half of your major requirements must be completed at Siena.

Can I see how many credits will transfer before I apply?
You may set up an interview through the admissions office. An admissions advisor will be able to give you a tentative evaluation of transferable credits.

What GPA is required to transfer to Siena?

How long will it take to receive an admissions decision?
Transfer admissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once a file is complete, it takes two-three weeks to send out a decision.

Can I live on campus as a transfer student?
Housing for transfer students is awarded on a space available basis. If you desire housing, it is best to apply early.

How do I register for classes?
Once you are admitted to Siena, you must submit an enrollment deposit to reserve a space in your semester of entry. Once the enrollment deposit is received ($100 full-time, $50 part-time) your file will be sent to the School of your chosen major. They will then contact you to register for classes and provide an official credit evaluation.

Can I take courses without officially applying to Siena?
Yes. You may take up to, but no more than, 15 credits on a credit-no-degree basis. To do so, please contact the Office of Academic Advising Support Center.
