Siena/Albany Medical College Program FAQsWhat makes Siena's 4-4 program unique? The Siena/ Albany Medical College Program in Science, Humanities and Medicine is medical education with a human service focus. The curriculum involves the sciences, but also humanities classes and a summer of service. The Summer of Service is a volunteer effort in an underdeveloped area. Students also volunteer between their second and third year of medical school.
Do I need to fill out another application for AMC when I apply? No. You only need to fill out the Siena Application. We do require an additional essay when applying to the program.
What are your requirements for the SAT Reasoning Test? We require a score of 1950 or higher on the SAT Reasoning Test, with a minimum of a 1300 on the critical reading and math score. We will use the highest critical reading and highest math score on the SAT. Or a minimum of a 30 on the ACT with writing.
Do I need to submit SAT Subject Tests? We do not require SAT Subject Tests.
If I don't get into the AMC program, can I still get admitted to the college? Yes. If you are not chosen as a finalist, we will send you a letter and a reply form. By returning the reply form by March 1, you will be considered for Siena admission.
Do I have to major in Biology? Yes. Siena/Albany Medical College students receive a B.A in Biology.
Do I have to have a minor in humanities? Yes. Students selected for the program must choose a minor in humanities.
Do I have to participate in the Summer of Service, and do I have to pay for it? Yes, part of what makes Siena's program unique is the Summer of Service in the summer before the student's senior year. The Summer of Service is a paid program.
Do I have to take the MCATs? No.
Do I have to maintain a certain GPA? Yes. Students must maintain a 3.4 GPA to stay in the program. |
