Summer-Funding Subcommittees

Research Grants/Fellowships

Members: Joseph McCollum (co-chair), Adam Mason (co-chair), Alison Larsen, Jon Bannon, Nathalie Degroult, Chris Harbison, Fanny Soderback

This subcommittee is responsible for all aspects of the awarding of Faculty Research Fellowships and Grants. Members coordinate the application process and update procedures and application guidelines annually. The subcommittee accepts and reviews applications for funding. The COTFD forwards recommendations for funding to the General Faculty Committee, which is responsible for final approval.

Pedagogy Grants/Fellowships

Members:  Josh Alexander (chair), Marcela Garces, Liz Blum, Melih Kullu

This subcommittee is responsible for all aspects of the awarding of Faculty Pedagogy Fellowships and Grants. Members coordinate the application process and update procedures and application guidelines annually. The subcommittee accepts and reviews applications for funding. The COTFD forwards recommendations for funding to the General Faculty Committee, which is responsible for final approval

International Summer Faculty Fellowship

Members: Darren Lim(chair), Chester Brearey, Jennifer Dorsey, Zhenzhen Sun

This subcommittee is responsible for all aspects of the awarding of the International Summer Faculty Fellowship. Members coordinate the application process and update procedures and application guidelines annually. The subcommittee accepts and reviews applications for funding. The COTFD forwards recommendations for funding to the General Faculty Committee, which is responsible for final approval.


Other Subcommittees
Food for Thought Luncheons

Members:  Nathalie Degroult (chair), Liz Blum, Josh Alexander, Joseph McCollum

Each year the COT sponsors informal luncheons called Food for Thought (FT), usually held during a Monday, Wednesday or Friday free period. Interested faculty meet to discuss topics relevant to teaching and scholarship across all academic disciplines. Members of the subcommittee organize approximately 5 to 6 luncheons throughout the academic year. Tasks include requesting topic ideas, arranging for dates and locations, collecting RSVP, and ordering food

Events

Members: Chester Brearey, Marcela Garces, Alison Larsen (chair), Fanny Soderback

This subcommittee requests suggestions for presentations and discussions from faculty and staff relevant to all disciplines. A limited number of presentations are coordinated each year that address pedagogical issues, scholarship, and other topics that impact the Siena community.

Communications

Members: Chris Harbison, Darren Lim (chair)

This subcommittee is responsible for maintaining and updating the COTFD web page. It also coordinates efforts with Academic Affairs to publicize outcomes of the COTFD funding opportunities.

Mentoring

Members: Adam Mason, Zhenzhen Sun, Melih Kullu, Jennifer Dorsey (chair), Jon Bannon

This subcommittee coordinates mentoring opportunities available to faculty, including a 1:1 peer mentoring program for junior faculty and a directory of faculty willing to provide mentoring related to specific pedagogical strategies and scholarship. This subcommittee is also responsible for assisting with coordination of the new faculty orientation in the fall.
