Washington Semester ProgramWashington Semester Program
Attention all juniors and seniors at Siena! If you are interested in a stimulating off-campus educational experience, you have the opportunity to participate in the Washington Semester Program offered by Siena College in a cooperative arrangement with American University. The Program includes special seminars conducted by prominent Washington decision-makers, a research tutorial, consisting of working with a mentor to produce a research paper or alternatively (depending on the specific track) a regular course offered by American University, and an internship experience, which could include an assignment to a congressional committee or office, an executive branch agency, an interest group association, a think tank, a private company or firm or to a media group. Area tracks include programs in: American National Government (General) American National Government (Public Law) Foreign Policy Justice Policy Economic Policy International Business and Trade Journalism Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution
Depending on the program selected, students accepted into the Washington Semester will receive 15 or 16 credits toward graduation. Non-Political Science majors interested in the American Government programs, Justice or Foreign Policy are encouraged to have some appropriate course background. Political Science majors are eligible upon completion of the core sequence of courses in the major.
