Plassmann Hall

Welcome to Plassmann Hall, Siena's first residence hall!  Plassmann Hall currently houses approximately 400 first-year and sophomore students.  Plassmann is a five-story residence hall with floors 1-4 consisting of mostly double-occupancy rooms with a few quad-style rooms, and floor 5 consisting of 4 and 6-person suites.

Opened in 1959, Plassmann was built to provide students a comfortable place to live and learn. Named for Fr. Thomas Plassmann, one of the founding Friars of Siena College, the hall has long stood as a home away from home for many students.

  • Lounge space available on first floor containing a 56" flat screen TV, foosball table, and ping pong table
  • Vending available in main lobby/entrance area

Plassmann Hall Staff:

Plassmann Hall is staffed by a live-in professional Residence Director who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Plassmann Hall, including maintenance and facilities concerns, mediating conflicts between students, supervision of paraprofessional Resident Assistant staff, adjudicating violations of the Siena College student code of conduct, and many other responsibilities.  The Residence Director of Plassmann Hall is currently Mr. Don Denz.  Don is currently in his second year working at Siena College.

Each Residence Hall (except for the Townhouses) also houses a Friar-in-Residence.  Franciscan Friars model Franciscan ideals, recognize the goodness and value of each person, and serve as a resource for students for any concerns they might have.

Also working in Plassmann Hall are 13 Resident Assistants, student-leaders living on each floor and wing of the residence hall and serve as peer mentors and role models for the residents of the building.  RAs go through an in-depth training every August and January to provide them with the skills necessary to ensure all residents of Plassmann Hall feel welcomed and safe in the residence hall and the Siena community.

The Plassmann Hall Community

RAs plan social, academic, spiritual, diversity, wellness, and service programs for the residents of the building to help get them involved in the Siena Community and develop their skills as students and leaders on campus.  Each RA hosts at least 4 programs a semester, so in Plassmann Hall alone that is at least 52 chances a semester to become involved, meet your peers, and learn new skills!  Some previous RA programs have included salsa dancing lessons in the main lounge, an "Ultimate Football Grudge Match," Lazer Tag Program, Registration 101, meditation during mid-terms and finals, or a simple ice cream social during your favorite TV Show!
