Student Events Board Ready For Semester

Student Events Board Ready For Semester

By Jennifer Steller

The Student Events Board (SEB) is a student-run organization that plans and runs social events and other entertaining activities for Siena College students and the Siena community. SEB members are passionate about student entertainment and social activity, supporting the idea of Siena as a school where one does not only get an education, but makes great memories and friends as well.

The most widely anticipated SEB event, Sienafest, is still being planned. Details are being finalized and committees are being formed. Mary Delaney, SEB Chairperson, remarked that Sienafest is notable for SEB members themselves in the way that the planning and execution of such a large event brings all of the board together.

In the more immediate future, SEB is planning a Siblings Weekend from March 23rd through the 25th, in which current students can invite younger siblings to Siena for the weekend and take part in an interesting and enjoyable event. Hump Week activities, which take place in the middle of the semester, are being arranged as well.

Also, on January 31st, SEB is bringing a professional street sign maker to campus. This sign maker will be available to make specialized signs for students. In addition to all this, as always, there will be coffeehouses and movie showings each weekend. According to Delaney, “These events really are fun and the students work really hard to put them on. When you go to an SEB event you can see people you don’t normally hang out with.”

SEB holds board meetings every Monday at 5:15 and welcomes students to come and voice their opinions. The Student Events Board can also be reached by email at SEB appreciates suggestions and feedback so that it can further tailor programs to student interest.
