Undeclared Majors at Siena

Time, flexibility, experience and resources

It is not necessary for students entering college to decide on a major before they are certain or comfortable knowing where they would like to concentrate their courses and degree program.
Many undeclared students find their major by working through the core curriculum first and getting exposure to a number of departments.

With 31 majors (and 45 minors and certificates), Siena students have a wide range of options in selecting a direction. There are valuable campus resources available to help students evaluate and focus including:
  • Academic advising by faculty to assist in answering questions, selecting the appropriate coursework and meeting requirements
  • Core curriculum that provides a well-rounded, comprehensive education as a foundation
  • Elective courses as a way to explore particular areas of interest
  • Career Center counselors who help navigate the decision process in aligning interests and skills to ambitions and options
  • Faculty and upper-class students who can share their experiences and ideas
