The Sr. Thea Bowman Center provides leadership and education to the members of the Siena College community by promoting awareness about gender issues of health, social justice, service and community spirit. It teaches students to:

Bowman is known for helping to bring richness of Black culture and spirituality, as well as the message of community and equality. A scholar, teacher, singer, poet, storyteller, preacher and performer, Sr. Thea fought evil, especially prejudice, suspicion, hatred and things that drive people apart. The Sr. Thea Bowman Center staff organizes numerous campus outreach, awareness programs, lectures and events. In addition, volunteer positions are typically open for students wishing to make a direct contribution to the Center’s goals.
