Multicultural Studies at SienaA Minor in the Systematic Study of Race, Ethnicity and CultureIn today’s increasingly global, diverse world, knowledge of multiculturalism is a real plus. Having a background in different cultures, races, and ethnicities will help prepare you for a career world where you will be interacting with diverse peoples. No matter which field you pursue, be it an advanced degree in the Liberal Arts, a career in the business world, or another avenue, this knowledge and advanced study will help you understand, appreciate, and work within our diverse world. As one Multicultural Studies alum, Martha Kelly ’10, observes, “The "Multicultural Studies minor" on your resume is something employers don't see often. Every interview I went in, I got asked about it and people were very impressed. Organizations that recognize cultural differences and appreciate working with them really have an advantage in the world today; therefore, an employee educated in cultural assimilation is beneficial to them.”
