History is the story of humankind as it has developed over time. It is our window into the people and events that have shaped our world.
 
History students at Siena develop a deepened knowledge and understanding of the past and its relationship to the world today. The diverse courses offer knowledge of the cultures and institutional development of society, acquaint students with the growing interrelations of all societies in the modern world and broaden their perspectives of the world, beyond Europe and the United States.
 
Courses in the History Department involve students in the work of historians and make use of all forms of evidence to examine, interpret, revisit and reinterpret the past. The program is also enhanced by:
  • Internship opportunities

  • Honors programs
  • Potential semester study in Gettysburg or Washington
  • Study abroad
  • Programs for earning a certificate in Revolutionary Era Studies or for receiving initial teaching certification for Social Studies/grades 5-12
