Analyzing and understanding the American experience deepens our intellectual, social and multicultural knowledge across a wide range of disciplines from history, language, sociology, political science and economics, to philosophy, creative arts and religion.
Siena’s location in New York's Capital Region provides a historic environment in which to study the formation and growth of our nation from its early days. Internships in the region further enhance students' knowledge and skills.
American Studies majors bring an impressive breadth of knowledge to graduate school and careers including:

The program engages students in diverse issues, perspectives and approaches where they acquire good communication skills, knowledge of business practices and the self-confidence to present themselves and their ideas effectively. The classroom experience is complemented by:
- The American Studies Capstone Sequence – a senior thesis project
- Gettysburg Semester – intensive study of the Civil War
- Washington Semester – internship and research projects
- Certificate in Revolutionary Era Studies – internship and focused study of the Revolutionary Era
