Fr. Greg Jakubowicz, O.F.M.

College Chaplain

Fr. Greg

Fr. Greg is a native of suburban Buffalo, NY.  He first met the Franciscan Friars of   Holy Name Province at South Buffalo’s Bishop Timon High School where he attended high school. Fr. Greg earned his B.A. from Saint Bonaventure University and then went on to earn his J.D. from SUNY at Buffalo School of Law.  He was admitted to practice law in New York State in 1991.  Prior to joining the Franciscan Friars, he spent five years working for LexisNexis in Charlottesville, VA.

In 1997 Fr. Greg joined the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province.  He professed his first vows in 1999 and professed his solemn vows in 2003.  He was ordained to the presbyterate in 2004.  His first ministerial assignment after ordination was at his alma mater as an Assistant Professor of Business Law.  However, after one year Fr. Greg was assigned by his Provincial Minister to be Vocation Director for the Franciscans and moved to New York City.  Two years later Fr. Greg was asked to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of the Washington Theological Union, a Roman Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry in Washington, DC.  He began his ministry as College Chaplain at Siena College in July 2009.

Shelly

Shelly has a great family and she is thankful for their support and love.  Proud to be Polish, Shelly can dance the polka (somewhat).
After graduating from college, Shelly moved out to San Francisco to participate in the Jesuit Volunteer Corp.  There she worked as a community organizer.  Captivated by the city, she stayed for an additional year working with the homeless as well as teaching environmental education with the urban poor.  Shelly left San Francisco for Milwaukee.  While there, she worked with the mentally ill who were incarcerated.   Next it was on to Chicago where she earned a master’s degree in theology from the Catholic Theological Union.

Shelly moved back to the Albany area in 2004. She accepted a position as the associate director of youth ministry with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.  The opportunity to work directly with the youth of the Diocese was especially valuable to her.
Excited to work at Siena, Shelly hopes to help the campus community continuously find ways to make the connection between faith, life, service, justice and discipleship.
