Dr. Maryellen Gilroy Educational Background • B.A., Providence College Biography As the chief student affairs officer for the College, Dr. Maryellen Gilroy works with students, faculty, administration and the Board of Trustees to establish programs and policies for the overall co- curricular and student life programs of the College. Dr. Gilroy was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs in July 2000 after serving as Dean of Students and adjunct faculty member at Southern Vermont College. She earned her B.A. in art from Providence College, an M.S. in Counseling from Central Connecticut State University, a M.Ed. in Higher and Adult Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and an Ed.D. in Higher and Adult Education with a concentration in Student Personnel Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is licensed in the State of Vermont as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. As the Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Gilroy oversees a variety of student life programs and services including Dean of Students, Residential Life, Campus Programs and Activities, Health Services, Counseling Services, Multicultural Affairs, Sr. Thea Bowman Center for Women, Public Safety and Services for Students with Disabilities.
Dr. Gilroy has several publications, most recently, Recruiting for Mission in Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities: a Case Study in the AFCU Journal: a Franciscan Perspective on Higher Education (2007); Recruiting for Mission: St. Anthony’s College” in Estanek, Wankel, Meyer, and Wright eds., Reading the Signs: Using Case Studies to Discuss Student Life Issues at Catholic Colleges and Universities (2008); and was one of seventeen professionals who served as writers for the Principles of Good Practice for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities, Wye River Writers’ Group Participant, published in 2007. |
