Multicultural Education Resources
Multicultural Education
Multicultural Education refers to the incorporation of diverse cultures into classrooms, shaping the curriculum to integrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. Teachers and staff in schools must become knowledgeable about the history, culture, and the contributions of diverse groups in order to pass that knowledge on to students. Lastly, multicultural education serves as a tool in confronting social issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
Scope
This pathfinder is intended for college students, faculty, K-12 teachers, and other educators interested in promoting both a multicultural outlook and a multicultural education in the K-12 classroom. Multiculturalism has become an increasingly important topic in education over the last two decades and, as such, the materials included here are among the most current that the Siena Library has to offer. For books, each entry ends with the book’s calls number, making it easy to locate. This pathfinder also includes e-books. Links to these resources can be easily located by a title search in CYRIL, Siena’s online catalog.
Subject Headings

Multicultural Education Resources Online
There are numerous non-fee based resources available online on the topic of multicultural education. This final section of the pathfinder incorporates a small sampling of these sites. Most provide a working definition of multicultural education, along with curriculum materials, and links to other websites that, in turn, provide further information on this subject.
