LIBRARY FEES AND CHARGES
Overdue charges for books, videocassettes, and sound recordings: $ .10 per day for overdue fees up to a maximum of $3.00 All fines that are not paid after a bill is sent to the patron will be added to the student’s account in Business Affairs with a processing fee of $6.00 per book (this is for materials that have been returned). Holds will be placed on borrowing privileges for non-Siena borrowers. Overdue charges for reserve material: $2.00 for the first four hours the material is not returned.$1.00 for each additional hour until the material is returned. Replacement charges for books: If the material has not been returned promptly after the patron is sent a bill, a $70.00 default fee will be charged to the student’s account. A $6.00 per item processing charge will also be included in the amount billed to the student. Holds will be placed on borrowing privileges for non-Siena students. Replacement charges for Interlibrary Loan Material: Charges for lost or damaged interlibrary loan material will be determined by the supplying library and may be higher than the $70.00 default price. Replacement charges for sound recordings: If the material has not been returned promptly after the patron is sent a bill, a $15.00 default price per disc will be charged to the student’s account. A $6.00 per item processing charge will also be included in the amount billed to the student. Holds will be placed on borrowing privileges for non-Siena students. Replacement charges for videocassettes and DVD’s If the material has not been returned promptly after the patron is sent a bill, a $84.00 default per tape/disc will be charged to the student’s account. A $6.00 per item processing charge will also be included in the amount billed to the student. Holds will be placed on borrowing privileges for non-Siena students. Replacement charges for reserve material: If the material has not been returned promptly after the student has been sent a bill, they will be charged a $70.00 default price for all materials. A $6.00 processing fee will also be included. Online search charges: THE LIBRARY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO LIMIT THE COST TO A REASONABLE AMOUNT. Siena faculty, staff, and students are not charged. Siena Alumni will be charged any cost over $10.00 (this amount does not include any labor fees). Non-Siena patrons will be charged the cost of the search (this amount does not include any labor fees). NOTE: The Library reserves the right not to give credit for items returned after one calendar year from the date the bill was sent to the Business Affairs Office. HOLDS AND RECALLSAll patrons have the option to request that a hold be placed on a book if that book is checked out. The patron may come to the Circulation Desk and request that a hold be placed on an item that has been checked out (a due date must appear in the status field). A recall notice will be generated if the book is needed by another patron or by a faculty member for their course reserves. The recall notice will notify the patron of a new due date from which all fines will accrue if the book is not returned. LOAN PERIODS AND RENEWALSCIRCULATING MATERIALSNo items will be signed out without a Siena ID or a CDLC Direct Access Card. If the patron's card expires prior to the due date, the system will assign the expiration of the card as the due date. All materials may be renewed if a hold has not been placed on the item. For books, the renewal date is four weeks from the date the book was renewed or the expiration date of the patron's card if it falls before the due date. The patron may renew items only once. For CDs the renewal is for seven days; for DVDs/videos, the renewal is for two days. To renew materials the patrons do not need to bring in the items, but they must present their ID card. Faculty , Staff and Administrators All materials are due May 1. The materials may be renewed once, books due the following May 1, audiovisual items due in 7 days. Direct Access Patrons Books - 4 weeks RESERVE MATERIALSReserve materials have a loan period of two hours. The patron may borrow one item at a time but it must be used in the Library. The materials may be renewed once for an additional two hours, if another patron is not waiting to use it. CONNECT NY LOAN PERIODS AND RENEWALS
