Health Professions

Siena College helps prepare students for health professions through an integrated program of academic learning and service experience.  These careers include:

  • Dentistry
  • Medicine
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Optometry
  • Physician’s Assistant
  • Physical Therapy
  • Podiatry
  • Veterinary Medicine

The health professions advisor provides information about careers in the health professions and assists students in achieving their career goals.  Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Advising students considering careers in the health professions
  • Assisting students in selecting schools compatible with their aspirations and credentials
  • Assisting students in the application process
  • Monitoring the application progress and acting as a liaison between the candidate and the professional schools
     

Siena College has serveral articulation agreements in place, should a student choose to attend a program that is offered in cooperation with one of its partners.

Siena Students have been successful in gaining admission to professional schools.  The health professions advisor assists students with the process of applying to health professional schools.

Meet the Advisor

Edward LaRow, Ph.D. is Siena's Health Professions Advisor. He provides information about careers in the health professions and assists students in achieving their career goals. LaRow oversees twelve cooperative programs in medicine, dentistry, optometry and podiatry. He is also the Director of the Siena/Albany Medical College Program in Science, Humanities and Medicine which is a joint eight-year program leading to the M.D. degree.

In the Spring of 2008 LaRow was awarded an honorary degree from Albany Medical College for his years of service and dedication to the Siena-AMC program.
