ScholarshipsExcellence in Communications ScholarshipThe Excellence in Communications Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more Junior or Senior English majors planning a career in the field of Communications. Winners will be chosen on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence and financial need. To apply, students must submit a letter to the Scholarship Committee (Dr. Mary Fitzgerald-Hoyt, Chair) stating their academic qualifications as well as their career plans and what steps they have taken toward realizing them (application and/or acceptance to graduate study; participation in a communications-related internship; related work experience, etc.) Applicants should also submit a writing sample. Matthew Conlin ScholarshipThe Matthew Conlin Scholarship is awarded annually to a Junior or Senior English major. The winner is selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and contribution to the Franciscan mission of the College. To apply, students must submit a letter to the Scholarship Committee (Dr. Mary Fitzgerald-Hoyt, Chair), stating their academic qualifications and service activities on campus and/or in the larger community. William J. Hirten AwardThe William J. Hirten Award is a graduation prize awarded annually to an outstanding English major planning a career in college/university or high school teaching. To apply, students must submit a letter to the Scholarship Committee (Dr. Mary Fitzgerald-Hoyt, Chair), stating their academic qualifications and motivation for pursuing a career in teaching. |
