Siena Grad Sworn Into Congress

Siena College graduate Chris Gibson ’86 was recently elected congressman of New York’s 20th congressional district. He was officially sworn into office on Wednesday evening.
 
Gibson is from the Columbia County town of Kinderhook, New York where he lives with his wife Mary Jo and their three children, Katie, Maggie and Connor.
 
Gibson graduated from Siena College with a degree in history and also earned his ROTC Commission. He spent 24 years in the Army, rising to the rank of Colonel. He was deployed seven times, including four combat tours to Iraq. Gibson’s military decorations include two Legions of Merit, four Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart.
 
Gibson also holds an M.P.A. and Ph.D. in government from Cornell University. He is the author of Securing the State, a book on national security decision-making published in 2008.
