Siena/YNN Poll: Sheehan Leads
Wednesday, July 31, 2013
As the Democratic mayoral primary race in Albany enters its final six weeks, City Treasurer Kathy Sheehan leads Corey Ellis 54-23 percent among registered Democrats, with 23 percent of voters undecided, according to a new YNN/Siena (College) Research Institute poll of Albany voters. Democratic voters believe that Sheehan would do a better job than Ellis on addressing all key issues by margins of 26 to 35 points, including capitalizing on the Hudson River, keeping taxes under control, managing economic development, creating jobs, addressing the city’s long-term waste management issues and improving public education. The full release is available on SRI's website.
The Siena College Research Institute (SRI) continues its specialty of local and regional polling by teaming up with YNN to conduct the "YNN/Siena College Poll of the City of Albany Mayor's Race." The poll explores the attitudes of Albany City voters on the upcoming mayoral race and the candidates involved including an early look at the Democratic primary race. Voters also comment on term limits, a new convention center, key issues facing the city, the local quality of life and their view of Mayor Jerry Jennings.
SRI regularly partners with media outlets in New York to poll in local elections including Congressional Districts and Senate Districts and is known for its successful track record. Many are following this election since, after 5 terms and 20 years in office, Jerry Jennings will not seek re-election for Mayor this fall.
