Siena’s academic quad was buzzing with students Friday afternoon as the college held its annual Student Senate Club Fair. More than 70 clubs and organizations attended the event and set up stations for students to learn more about the clubs, organizations and programs offered on campus.

Katie Wells ’14 ran the Office of Academic Community Engagement’s Siena Girl Scouts table and was excited by the turnout of students at the Club Fair. As the leader of the ACE Siena Girl Scout troop, Wells used this opportunity to find interested students who are looking to get involved.

“The Club Fair went really well and we spoke to a lot of members of the Siena community who are interested in joining the troop as a leader,” Wells said. “We currently have about 80 girls signed up for Girl Scouts this year and are expanding, so we are still looking for new leaders. I’m excited for our meetings to begin on October 2nd and have already registered many new Girl Scouts for the troop.”

Another hit of the Club Fair was Student Events Board’s “Pie Your Saint” contest. For $2 a pie Siena students had the opportunity to try to pie their SAINTS, the student leaders who guided them through the opening week activities. All proceeds went to SEB’s chosen charity of the year, Healing Spaces. Healing Spaces is an organization which renovates the rooms of terminally ill children after extended stays in the hospital. Students came out to support the cause and covered many of the SAINTS in pie.

The Club Fair also featured performances from Siena’s step dance team S.O.L.I.D. and other Siena student groups.

“It’s definitely exciting to be back on campus,” Wells said. “I’m looking forward to another great year at Girl Scouts and at Siena.”
