McMahon Challenge Met
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
In early December, John A. McMahon ’71 and his wife, Joanne, challenged Siena alumni to become President’s Circle donors in the Siena College Annual Fund. The McMahons agreed to match those donations up to $50,000, thereby doubling the impact.
Siena College successfully completed the McMahon Challenge, raising a total of $122,578 and adding 86 new donors and $61,427 in new money.
President’s Circle members are stakeholders committed to the continuous growth and improvement of Siena College through their annual support of the College at the $1,000 level. Junior Associate level donors are graduates of the last nine years who contribute $100 or more, based on the number of years since they graduated.
“We’re grateful for John’s generous support of the Annual Fund and his desire to encourage others to give,” said Dave Smith ’79, vice president for development and external affairs. “The McMahon Challenge captured the attention of alumni, parents and friends of the College and enlisted support from a large and diverse group of donors. It has provided us with a great building block upon which we can increase support for the Annual Fund through both increased dollars and donors.”
The Siena College Annual Fund provides direct financial support for Siena students.
“If as an alumnus you do not give back to your college, then the degree hanging on your wall may someday be from a place that no longer exists,” McMahon said prior to the challenge.
