After a relaxing winter recess, members of the Class of 2012 were given the opportunity to return to Siena early and attend the Senior Gift Kick-off Party.
Sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations, the reception featured dinner, drinks and raffles for students to win prizes such as gift cards, Siena gear, tickets to Senior Week events and golf packages.
"The party gives our students a look into what some of our alumni events are like. It also provides them with a chance to celebrate the start of their last semester and add a night to their senior year," said Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Jake Hill '09.
The dinner also allowed the senior class to see how their contributions to the Senior Gift would impact Siena. School of Liberal Arts Dean Ralph Blasting, Ph.D. explained that this year’s Senior Gift would be helping to finance a new academic building which will support social justice programs and house the departments of sociology, social work and education. The building will provide new academic learning environments and it will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
The Kick-off Party raised nearly $4,700, bringing Senior Gift contributions to $5,100, which is more than halfway to the goal of $10,000.
