Siena Welcomes Record Setting Class

Members of the Class of 2015 moved into their residence halls on Thursday, September 1. The 784 first year students were chosen from more than 9,750 applicants. That marks a 10 percent increase in applications over last year and a new record for Siena College.

“In the increasingly competitive higher education market place, I am proud to say that along with the increase in applications, the academic quality of our admitted students has improved,” said Assistant Vice President for Admissions Heather Renault. “This group of students will succeed at Siena over the next four years. I look forward to seeing all they accomplish in and out of the classroom.”

Average SAT scores for the Class of 2015 increased and nearly two-thirds of the students are receiving academic scholarships. This year’s class is also more diverse than previous classes. Ethnic diversity rose to more than 18.5%.

“The Admissions team has worked with these students for the last year and a half. We are excited to welcome them to the Siena family,” Renault said.

Along with the Admissions team, returning students, faculty, staff and administrators help to move in the first-year students.
