G.C. Haymes: Collected Works Opens in Yates Gallery

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Siena College is proud to showcase the works of another local artist in its Yates Gallery.

Starting on Thursday, November 5, with an artist lecture and reception from 4–6 p.m. in the Standish Library, the collected works of G.C. Haymes will be on display.

As a visual artist, Haymes has exhibited his work in galleries and museums throughout the Capital Region, including at the Firlefanz Gallery, the Albany Institute of History and Art, Albany Center Gallery and countless other galleries.

“His work incorporates many different media from word, photographs, sculpture and installations. I believe this is a great opportunity for students to see work that incorporates an interdisciplinary approach.” said Yates Gallery Curator, Sergio Sericolo.

Haymes lives in Rensselaer County and is also an accomplished poet, playwright and musician. He has been a guest VJ on MTV, a graphic designer for the BBC’s London Wavelength and a founding member of the band, “Ramblin’ Jug Stompers.”

Haymes has also written art and music reviews for the Albany Times Union, the Daily Gazette, Metroland and numerous other publications. He currently writes art criticism for the website Nippertown.com.

“G.C. Haymes: Collected Works” is free and open to the public and runs through December 11th.
